Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Angamardana

Angamardana is an ancient yogic practice designed to achieve complete mastery over the body and mind. It involves a series of 31 dynamic processes that invigorate and rejuvenate the body’s muscular, skeletal, nervous, circulatory, and respiratory systems. More than just a workout, Angamardana prepares the body for deeper yogic practices and enhances overall physical and mental well-being.
Anyone aged 16 and over can participate in the Angamardana program. No prior yoga experience is necessary. However, due to the physical intensity of the practice, it may not suit everyone. If you have any health concerns or physical limitations, it’s best to consult with us before enrolling.

The benefits of practicing Angamardana include:

  • Improved overall fitness: strength, cardio, and flexibility.
  • Enhanced energy levels and vitality.
  • Better concentration and mental focus.
  • Increased mind-body coordination.
  • Effective weight management and body toning.
  • Improved sleep patterns and reduced anxiety.
  • A sense of lightness and freedom in the body.
The Angamardana program is an intensive weekend training that spans over 10+ hours. The sessions are divided into 3 or 4 parts, all of which are mandatory to ensure proper and safe learning. Missing the first session disqualifies attendance for the remaining sessions to maintain the integrity of the program.
After the workshop, additional guided sessions are available to help you maintain and deepen your practice. These sessions are subject to demand and scheduled according to availability. Continuous support and resources are also provided to help you clear any doubts and enhance your practice.
Angamardana is rooted in the ancient yogic sciences and is linked with Kalaripayattu, the mother of all modern martial arts. It was developed by Agastya Muni, one of the Sapta Rishis (seven sages) and a disciple of Adi Yogi, Shiva. This practice has been preserved through the millennia and is now offered through the insights of Sadhguru as part of Laya Yoga.
Unlike regular exercise that often focuses on muscle building and cardiovascular health, Angamardana is a holistic system that enhances overall fitness by revitalizing all bodily systems. It not only improves physical strength and flexibility but also enhances mental focus, energy levels, and mind-body coordination, preparing you for deeper yogic practices and daily activities.
Participants are advised to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing suitable for physical activity. You may also want to bring a water bottle, a yoga mat, and any personal items you might need. Detailed instructions will be provided upon registration.
You can register for the Angamardana program through our website or by contacting us directly via email or phone. Detailed registration instructions and program schedules are available on our Registration Page.
